Interbots is happy to announce the birth of the newest member of our family: Moxi! Moxi is Quasi’s eight year old sister, and she’s much more precocious than her big brother. She loves to have her picture taken, and is thrilled when she finds pictures and videos of herself on the internet. She’s a bit of a gadget freak and likes to read Slashdot and Engadget when she’s having a slow day. Someday, when she grows up, she wants to be a YouTube star and design purple iPods for Apple. Clutched in Moxi’s arms is her pet merkitten, Merki. Moxi was developed for the Singapore Science Center, and will be leaving Pittsburgh shortly to settle into her new home. Interbots is currently hard at work building Quasi a little sister. Here’s a sneak peek!

Quasi has just returned from a 10-day trip to Doha, Qatar where he attended the the regional Botball Tournament, met and chatted with students from CMU Qatar, and attended the Qatar Science and Technology Park TECHtalks conference.

Quasi and his family are preparing to leave snowy Pittsburgh behind and enjoy the Miami sunshine for several days while Quasi attends ESPN Magazine’s NEXT Big Block Party on Superbowl Weekend! Quasi will be acting as a correspondent on the red carpet, interviewing guests as they enter the party. This will be Quasi’s first red carpet appearance and he’s very excited about getting to meet all of the celebrities and athletes. Keep an eye out for him on ESPN’s televised coverage of the party!

Quasi has been invited to appear on Good Morning America! Tune in at (or set your TiVo for) 7am EST this Saturday, November 4th to see Quasi talk live about the future of technology! This is Quasi’s first live national TV appearance — wish him luck!

This past weekend Interbots took our character Quasi to Wired’s NEXTfest in NYC. You can see him in action in this video on YouTube taken by an antendee. Everyone was very enamored with the little guy but don’t be fooled- yes, there is a “man behind the curtain.” To learn more about how what you’re seeing in the video works, visit the Guided Control System section on our Software page.

The Science Channel is airing a segment on Quasi and Interbots on their “Discoveries This Week” show on Friday September 22 at 8pm.  (The segment was actually aired earlier on The Discovery Channel Canada’s “Daily Planet” show on May 25th.)  Internet savvy folks can find a copy of it on the internet; check it out for a little behind the scenes look at what we do.
