Asmongold has waded into the controversy surrounding further transphobic statements from fellow streamer NICKMERCS this week, adding to the turbulent online discussion by claiming that the beleaguered star's views are "extremely common."

Asmons NUCLEAR approach to Nickmercs situation

Twitch streamer Asmongold is always reacting to various happenings in the streaming world, and in one of his recent streams in mid-June, he played a clip of NICKMERCS in which the streamer outright said, "Transgender people don't exist." NICKMERCS has a long history of making similar comments, which originally got him denied a collaboration with Call Of Duty. Now, Asmongold is throwing his hat into the ring, and while it wasn't exactly a defense of the Kick-based star, it did suggest that things aren't so clear-cut.

Asmongold noted in the reaction video that many of the comments on Nick's recent posts on X (formerly Twitter) have been in support of the streamer. He added that he believes the majority of people share the same sentiment, but that they "can't say that on social media," before doubling down on that line of thought. "Just because you can't say something on social media doesn't mean people aren't thinking it," he explained.

In addition to his thoughts on the general public's view of transphobia, Asmongold also alluded to Nick's previous cancellation, saying it may have influenced his beliefs. "I think if that hadn't happened to Nick," Asmongold said as he continued to watch, "Nick probably wouldn't be as outspoken as he is." The Twitch star then quoted xQc, who had previously said that allies can become enemies over "even the smallest scandals."
