Do you like the look of a professional hair dryer, but are having trouble blow-drying your hair properly at home? Or maybe you're having a hard time finding a stylist who understands your hair texture and how to achieve the look you want without all the frizz?

Blow dry your hair at home

Tara McAdams-May, holistic hair therapist, is here to give us some hair drying tips that will save you time and energy when it comes to mastering a blow dryer.

Starting with freshly washed and conditioned strands is key to getting the most out of your styling session. The next step is to decide whether you want to blow-dry your hair curly or straight, as the preparation for both is slightly different.

For straight hair, squeeze as much water out of your wet hair as possible before applying a styling aid. Curly hair should be detangled in the shower with conditioner and left soaking wet and undisturbed; you can just use a microfiber cloth or a t-shirt to catch any excess water that drips from the ends. My curly friends will want to apply their styling products to very wet hair using a prayer hand method, then squeeze that product in further while pushing out the excess water. I like to use the SMILE method to remember these steps.
