In Dragon's Dogma 2, your Pawns come in handy a lot more than you might think. While they can use their skills and knowledge to help you, they can also use Specializations to give you something extra. A Pawn can learn Specializations and do things on their own without you having to command them. Their actions are only meant to help you, not harm you, so don't worry about that.

For example, a Pawn with a Forager Specialization will automatically mark the location of enhancement materials on the map. There are many more passive abilities that can be obtained similarly. In this guide, we will explain how to change your Pawn's Specializations in Dragon's Dogma 2.

Specializations can be given to your Pawns by unlocking Tomes. Specialization Tomes are given to you by NPCs once you have increased your affinity with them. This can be done by completing side quests or by giving them certain gifts. For example, if you give Kough (NPC) a bunch of flowers, she will give you a Woodland Wordsmith Tome.

Note: The Chirurgeon's Tome is one of the first Specialization Tomes you can obtain in Dragon's Dogma 2. It is unlocked after completing the Medicament Predicament side quest. You will receive it from Flora or her father after the quest.
