Multiversus, the highly anticipated fighting game from Warner Bros. that first rose to popularity in 2022, has now fully launched and players are coming back in droves.

Last year, the developers of Multiversus made a controversial move when they pulled the game out of Early Access and closed its servers to the public, instead making a conscious effort to complete the development process before relaunching the game. Many in the game’s early player base felt this decision was isolationist, especially since the game was a purchasable product and effectively left players with a black hole in their Steam libraries.

Yesterday, on its official launch day, Multiversus peaked at just over 114,000. That’s down slightly from its Early Access peak, but still respectable for a game that’s been out of the public consciousness for nearly two years.

According to Steamcharts, a website that tracks player numbers, Multiversus' player count peaked during its early access period, when it surpassed 150,000 in July 2022.
