Officeworks Supports Little Wings – Make A Difference Appeal

This June, Officeworks is hosted their annual Make A Difference Appeal to raise money for local causes across the country.

The focus for this year is children’s health and education charities. Little Wings is one of the 14 local community organisations that Officeworks together with its customers will be supporting. Officeworks store teams selected the organisations they wanted to help based on what felt most relevant to their local communities.

Little Wings is a non-profit organization that provides free, professional and safe flight and ground transport services for seriously ill children in rural and regional NSW and the ACT to Westmead Children’s Hospital & Newcastle John Hunter Children Hospital. Little Wings is 90% volunteer organisation, pilots and drivers are professionals, striving to ease the journey and help sick children access specialised medical services and treatments that are only available in major cities or towns.

Clare Pearson CEO “Little Wings has helped many families in around NSW and ACT since 2012. We have completed 3670 missions. Providing access to lifesaving medical treatment that is no longer available locally.
“We do everything we can to support families by easing the financial burden, emotional strain and travel fatigue that families experience due to the long-distance travel associated with receiving vital medical treatment. The services we offer at Little Wings are made possible by an amazing network of volunteer pilots, drivers and event staff. We truly appreciate to be nominated in the Officeworks Makes A Difference Appeal. Together, we can have a big impact on families that are silently struggling across the ACT.”

Emily from West Gosford Officeworks employee was excited to support Little Wings this year. Emily said “Supporting Little Wings means we are able to help sick children and their families. We are happy to give a hand to help those people in need”. The Officeworks’ Make a Difference Appeal is held every year as part of their People & Planet Positive Plan commitments, last year’s Appeal raised more than 1.4 million.

For the month of June, customers in Canberra will be encouraged to round up the cost of their Officeworks purchase to the nearest dollar at the check-out in store or online.
