A Diablo 4 patch on May 28 implemented a new, unobtrusive feature that now sees a prominent UI icon appear to display materials players pick up, a move that has quickly divided the community.

Diablo 4 – CONFIRMED: INFINITE Temper Re-rolls, Easy Mythic Uniques and Gold – BROKEN Season 5 Patch!

One player commented on a Reddit post about the unexpected change and how he felt it cluttered the screen for readability. He pointed out the inconvenience of showing non-essential resources. Flowers like Gallowvine, for example, which we collect a lot for crafting, are one such material that shows up on screen all too often with this feature.

This feature was likely added to give players visual feedback on what they're collecting, without having to scan tiny text with a magnifying glass to see what it is. As such, it further improves the accessibility of Diablo 4, although the opposite could also be true, as there may now be too much feedback for players. This led to other unamused players pleading, "Let's have a toggle in the options menu!"

The feature itself was already available in the public test environment before the update was released. Another player suspected that it was accidentally included in the build because it wasn't thought through properly.
