After much outrage from the Helldivers 2 community over the weekend, Sony has responded to player concerns and reversed its decision to require PSN account linking.

The news came in a brief statement Sony shared to its @PlayStation account on X (formerly Twitter) late Sunday night. In the release, which has already been viewed more than 21 million times, the publisher said it had taken all of the feedback from the weekend "to heart" and confirmed that the upcoming May 6 update (and the anticipated May 30 follow-up) that would have required linking Steam and PlayStation Network accounts would no longer happen.
"We're still learning what's best for PC players, and your feedback has been invaluable," Sony's statement concluded. "Thank you again for your continued support for Helldivers 2, and we'll keep you updated on future plans."
