Even though you start out as a farmer in Stardew Valley, there are several professions you can progress into as you grow in skill. For example, at level 5 of farming, you are given the choice between Tiller and Rancher. While both have their pros and cons, they are well balanced, making it often difficult to choose between them. Additionally, as you level up in those professions, you can choose from even better professions with greater benefits.
If you're still unsure which option best suits your playstyle, use this pros and cons guide to help you make a decision.
When you choose this profession, all animal products you sell will yield 20% more gold. This includes everything from mayonnaise and cheese to wool and cloth. Players with the Meadowlands Farm have an advantage in the profession, as they get a coop and two chickens with the card. They do not have to spend money on building the structure and buying these animals and can progress faster.
When you reach level 10 of the profession, you can specialize between Coopmaster and Shepherd. Coopmaster increases the incubation time of the eggs and lets you befriend the animals in the coop faster. As for the Shepherd, it increases the wool production speed and lets you befriend the animals in the barn faster.
