In 2022, Squanch Games released High on Life, a comedy-filled first-person shooter where your guns talk to you. The game is loosely inspired by Rick and Morty and is soon getting its own animated series adaptation.

Jerry gets roasted by Rick!😱🤣

Emmy-winner JB Smoove is reportedly set to executive produce the series, according to Deadline. It's reportedly being developed by Squanch Games (co-founded by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland), Striker Entertainment, and Alternate Side Productions, Smoove's production company. The latter will be responsible for creating the animated series, while the game's developers and Striker Entertainment's Mandy Bardisbanian and Russell Binder will serve as executive producers.

JB Smoove voiced one of the characters, named Gus, in High on Life. Judging from his comments, he always had an idea to bring the video game to TV screens.

“When Squanch Games originally reached out to JB Smoove (I like to refer to myself in the third person) about voicing a character in their incredible video game High on Life, my first question was, what does my character look like? […] Now that I’m partnering with Squanch Games and Striker Entertainment to bring the hilarious High On Life to the series, it feels like it was inevitable,” Smoove told Deadline.
