The Finals is a highly competitive FPS shooter that lets you get into the game regardless of your skill level. So you can choose to play using either a keyboard and mouse or a controller. However, everyone knows that aiming with the mouse is very precise compared to a controller. To compensate for this, games usually give players aim assist with a controller. However, Zoom Snapping is a feature that you can enable in The Finals to give your opponents a run for their money.
Zoom Snapping, as the name suggests, is a feature where when you ADS and zoom in on an enemy, your reticle will snap towards them. So to give you a vague explanation, when you aim in the general direction of your enemy and zoom in, your aim point will snap towards them. Keep in mind that this is an oversimplification of how it works. You still need to aim accurately when attacking someone, and you can’t expect zooming in to give you free kills.
Thanks to u/awhaling on Reddit for creating this post with an excellent video showing how this feature works. You can watch it here.
But if you’re worried that it’s too broken, fear not. Patch 1.4. 1 addressed many of the issues players had been reporting about the game’s aim assist. Some of the highlights of this update included eliminating zoom snapping when making unintended 90-degree turns, reducing the time from 0.25 to 0.3 seconds, and more.
